The project “Dream Job in the Skilled Trades” contributes to encouraging young people to join the skilled trades, explicitly encouraging women to embark on careers in technical trades.

The project informs pupils, parents, teachers, and multiplicators at the transition from school to work about careers in the skilled trades. It enables adolescents to collect experiences in short practical courses in skilled trades, incorporates young workers from the sector as training ambassadors, and offers further education for multiplicators and teachers. The collaborations between tradespeople and schools are organised by school guidance counsellors.

In addition, adolescents receive support with writing applications and finding apprenticeship positions in the skilled trades. Special support for journeywomen to become master craftswomen and corresponding coaching also ensures that more craftswomen receive qualified training to advance their careers. The project is part of the 2030 Masterplan for Hamburg’s skilled trades sector and supports the Hamburg Strategy to Meet Requirements for Skilled Labour.
